I love the work of this guy Douglas Friedman. OK, so he is not an architect, but a photographer. None the less, he shoots his interiors well. I am sure my builders and I would have loved working with him had he only been based in London. It's light, it's airy and it is good to see that they have used a lot of reused timber when they renovated the place. We need to think more about the environment, and as they have clearly shown here, it can be used to great effect.

I love the chairs and the lamps. Interesing, with a black wall in the background. I wouldn't normally advise that, but here it works, primarily because of the size of the room.

I love the exposed treated timber beams, and the play of light. Sadly you can't just pick up joist like that from the local timber yard. But... If you've got the budget it is definitely a design feature worth including.

The room itself is just a room. Tiled floor and white walls. What makes it a great room is the cool dining table and the pictures on the end wall which sets off everything else nicely.

Sometime simple works, although I do think they could have spent a little bit more on that balustrade, or at least have some decent builders work on it. However, the bedroom upstairs has got a lovely rustic feeling to it.

Check out that heering bone timber floor they have put down. Perhaps a little bit too black and white for me, but the flooring alone deserves a mention.
